Introduction:

The content of instruction is sequenced such that the students gain the knowledge needed to create a blog of the MRI procedures used in medical imaging.  A sample instruction was provided, evaluated, corrected, and approved (Hodell, 2011, p28) by members of the School of Medical Imaging and Therapeutics to develop the final presentation contained in this document.

Content of Instruction:

1.      Introduction: Begin with the teacher discussing the contents of the procedures manual and how students will utilize this information in their education.

2.      Visual aid: Students are shown a three-ringed binder of procedures (Appendix A).

3.      Web-based content: Students are shown the home screen and the brain pages of the digital procedures manual created with blogger.com (Appendix B). The instructor points out the inclusion of images in the new format and discusses benefits of having this information as a digital resource rather than copied material.

4.      The students are made aware of the objective of the training session.  It is to educate the students on how to create and use a blogger account for the purpose of producing the procedures manual.

5.      Instructional Media: A brief video (Appendix C) is show demonstrating how to create a blog, make posts, and upload images on the post.

6.      Activity guide: A Power Point hand out is given to each student.  Teacher reviews Power Point with class (Appendix D).

7.      Students log into the computers and create a blogger account mimicking the process demonstrated by the video. They can refer to their notes and the Power Point handout.  The trainer will also demonstrate the process on the overhead projector throughout the session.  Questions are addressed and answered by the trainer.

8.      Students will select a template for their blogger site mimicking the demonstration of the trainer.

9.      Students create 3 posts with images following the demonstration of the trainer.

10.  The students are shown the digital protocol book again, only this time more emphasis is placed on the contents.  The digital resource has a sample page name “brain” that contains the sequences in an imaging study along with parameters and images (Appendix 5).  Students are informed that this is the expectation for their procedures manual.

11.  Students will observe the trainer demonstrate on the overhead projector how to create pages with images.

12.  Students create 2 pages with images.

13.  Invite students to work together and help each other if needed.

14.  Have each student explain and demonstrate the process of either creating a page or a post.

15.  End training session.
